This is truly a place to relax and get away from the stresses of city life.
The village and surrounds are very beautiful. The house is comfortable with excellent beds and a lovely fireplace for winter warmth it can get very cold.
There is a large farmhouse kitchen where people congregate around a large table to eat and talk. The cooking facilities are quite rustic on an old gas stove but it is part of the charm.
The village boasts one super market, a garage, a hotel, and Absa bank plus some excusive shops for tourists on the R62 and also 35 very good restaurants. To the north 20kms away is a hot Springs with 3 pools and a restaurant. There is also an up market game reserve with the big five, only 17kms towards Montagu.
Mainly guests read and walk for their entertainment and eat out in one of the great restaurants. The Barrydale folk are very friendly and helpful.
