The Swellendam Canola Karnaval is an annual highlight and the perfect excuse to visit the scenic Overberg region. With the canola flowers in their yellow blossom, come enjoy the several activities this festival has to offer.
This year’s top performing artists include: Elizma Theron, Ray Dylan, Liani May, Snotkop and Arno Jordaan. Do not miss the following shows: “Met die holm gebore” (Marion Holm), “Brood” (Jak de Priester), “Myne, joune, ons s’n” (Coenie de Villiers), “Dowwe Dolla 007” (Margrit Meyer-Rodenbeck), “Klassiek tot kabaret: ‘n Makabaret” (Niel Rademan) and organ fireworks with Winand Grundling.
Outdoor activities include a 21km marathon, 5km fun run, variety of MTB routes, quad biking and a 4x4 enduro. A full programme is available for kids of all ages, as well as a crèche. Do not miss out on tours to Wildebraam Berry Estate for an exclusive liqueur tasting, bird watching in Bontebok Park, historical tours through the Drostdy Museum, an educational tour through the SOILL canola oil factory and a breakfast- or sunset cruise on Buffeljagsdam.
