The day started out with a long wait in traffic. It took just over 2 hours to get into the air force base. We could see the jets from the road so at least we had something to occupy ourselves while waiting in the traffic.
The jets and helicopters were awesome. After walking around the displays in the hangers the main attraction had to be the powerful jets and the massive Airbus A340. The Airbus is a graceful piece of machinery. The pilot did a simulated landed then pull up with a great roar from the engines. The jets put on an awesome display. The best part for me was the power of the afterburner in the engines and the speed at which they move. You can feel the sound waves vibrating through your body. Awesome!!!
Having never been to an air show before I had a fantastic time. The only negatives were: The token system – (Queue for tokens then pay for food/drinks with tokens) - what a waste of time!!! The PA system could have been a bit louder and it would have been nice if there were some stands for the public to sit on and watch the planes.
Cape Town is a wonderful setting for an air show and I would definitely go again...
I am quite keen to hear what others thought about the show.
