SAAO headquarters are in the suburb of Observatory in Cape Town, but the main telescopes used for research are at the SAAO observing station near Sutherland in the Northern Cape, a 4 hour drive from Cape Town.
There is a Cape Town night tour on the second Saturday of the Month at
20:00. There is no fee or booking required, but donations are appreciated. Sutherland night and day tours are also available. (See prices under useful info) Both these tours are booked via Karel Klein 023 5711205.
