Long
Beach is better known for its surf spot than the
actual beach itself but the white sandy beach is
actually quite attractive as well. It’s a
decent size for walking on and there is plenty
of space for sunbathing. It can be quite exposed
to the wind so if you want a pleasant day on the
beach, its better when the wind is calm.
There is plenty of activity on the beach and in the water. When offshore there
is a long, clean wave with great shape. The break is dotted with loads of surfers
all trying to get the better ride.
The actual beach break can be quite heavy when the swell is large and is quite
a lot of fun for body boarders. When the swell is small the water is fine for
swimming but just take care when the waves are bigger.

Location: Coming
along the M65 into Kommetjie, turn
right into Kirsten Ave, Left into Benning
Dr. then right to the beach.
Wind Direction: Quite exposed to the wind. Best
on calm days
Surf Spot: To
the left is a long riding, clean breaking wave
that works on South-Westerly winds. The waves form
is great for surfing - but good waves come at a
price – the spot is usually very crowded.
The beach break, Krans, is quite hollow and fast.
Things to bring: Sun cream, umbrella, towel,
beach mat, cool drinks, carry bag, snacks, goggles & snorkel, dry clothes,
a hat, bat & ball… and any other beach games.
