Witsands
Beach is very popular with kite-surfers, windsurfers
and surfers but is rarely used for sunbathing.
Perhaps other beaches are closer to Cape Town but
Witsands is such a fantastic beach to visit. The
beach is quite big and has soft white sand and
sand dunes to lie on. The natural surroundings
are spectacular. Take a scenic drive along the
coast and give the other crowded beaches a skip.
The beach is best on calm days. Kite-surfers, windsurfers visit this beach for
good reason. The cross shore winds create fantastic conditions for sailing. For
surfing you have various options. There is the beach break off Witsands Beach,
the reef breaks towards Misty Cliffs and the Crayfish factory, (out and to the
right of the beach), which is a powerful right point break with an awesome hollow
section.
