Fischer Haven, Cape Town, Western Cape | Cape Town Bass Fishing at Fischer Haven which is a bass fishing dam ideally situated near Cape Town

Fischer Haven is an ideal bass fishing venue where one can hone their bass fishing skills and techniques. The dam consists of Largemouth and Smallmouth bass and is situated on a farm in Kraaifontein (about 15 minutes drive from Cape Town).

There are plenty of great places to fish off the bank which include jetties into the dam. Float tubes and boats with an electric motor are allowed on the dam. Structure on the dam consists of reeds and grass banks which makes it great for all types of lures. The water is a stained colour and white spinner baits and crankbaits work great.

For those needing some tips on good spots and techniques, you will be sure to find Willem at the dam who will gladly share his knowledge. Willem manages the dam and can usually be spotted with a rod (and fish) in his hand.

Other types of fish include rainbow trout, carp and bluegill (bait fish). Please note that Carp fishing is NOT permitted. There are also designated braai areas on the banks.

There is a small fee to fish for the day and memberships are also available for the avid bass fisherman. Children are welcome (under adult supervision) and the dam is a great place for them to get hooked on the joys of fishing.
